JAPANESE BUILDING MATERIALS
Materials for the rest of your project.
Our multi-brand sourcing and export service continues below.
10+ Japanese Building Materials Brands. One Point of Contact.
Japanese building materials manufacturers formed an industry association to expand their markets together. After years of working in Japan, EST established a partnership with the association and became a single overseas point of contact for these manufacturers. Compare products, request quotations and arrange exports without contacting each factory separately.

Tell us about your project
An idea, a drawing or a product list is enough to start. Tell us the destination and what you need help with.
Japanese quality is not a slogan. It is the discipline of checking dimensions, finishes, documentation and packing details before a product leaves Japan.
Original manufacturer specifications and material identity retained.
Receiving and pre-loading checks documented for each order scope.
Availability, lead time and applicable documents confirmed before commitment.
Six Categories, Eleven Manufacturers, One Purchase Order
We do not push a single brand. Within each category the manufacturers we represent run parallel ranges, so a specification can be matched on performance, finish and budget across all of them — then loaded into one container under one invoice. Individual model numbers live on each manufacturer’s own site; send us the codes and we quote them together.
4 MANUFACTURERSWallcovering & Decorative Film
壁装材・化粧フィルムContract-grade vinyl wallcovering, non-woven and fabric-backed papers, and self-adhesive decorative film for wall, door and column wrapping. Four manufacturers run parallel ranges here, so a single specification can be matched on colour, texture and fire class across all of them.

5 MANUFACTURERSFlooring
床材Engineered wood, solid timber, LVT plank, safety vinyl sheet and modular carpet tile. Commercial and residential grades run side by side, so a hotel or office package can be specified from one supply chain rather than assembled from four.

4 MANUFACTURERSInterior Doors & Storage
室内建具・収納Hinged and sliding interior doors, pocket door systems, closet and storage units. Japanese door sets are supplied as a complete assembly — leaf, frame, hardware and casing pre-matched — rather than as a leaf you hang into an existing frame.

2 MANUFACTURERSWindows & Entrance Doors
窓・玄関ドアAluminium, aluminium-clad timber and PVC window systems, plus secured entrance doors and shutters. Japanese high-insulation window ranges are engineered for a climate that swings from humid summers to snow load, which makes them a straightforward fit for most temperate and cold markets.

3 MANUFACTURERSKitchen, Bath & Washroom
キッチン・バス・洗面System kitchens, unit bathrooms, vanity units, washlet toilets and tapware. Unit bathrooms ship as a factory-moulded waterproof module and are installed in a day — send us the rough opening dimensions and we confirm which module size lands cleanly before quoting.

2 MANUFACTURERSBoards & Ceiling Systems
ボード・天井材Gypsum board in standard, fire-rated, moisture-resistant and sound-insulating grades, plus acoustic ceiling panels and grid systems. This is the category most often added to fill out a container, since board stacks flat and pallets tightly around bulkier goods.

Buyers who have never sourced from Japan want to know one thing first: is there anything physically behind the website. These are our own facilities — the Tokyo showroom where product is specified, and the warehouse where containers are consolidated and loaded.

Tokyo Showroom — Specify Before You Ship
Full working kitchen, bath and washroom sets from LIXIL, Panasonic and TOCLAS on permanent display, alongside the complete Sangetsu, Lilycolor and Sincol sample libraries. Overseas buyers are welcome to visit, or request a guided video walkthrough of any specific model.

Mixed-Brand Interior Package, Specified On Site
A single project rarely uses a single manufacturer. Kitchens from one brand, unit baths from another, wallcovering and flooring from a third. Our showroom lets a buyer compare all of them side by side in one visit, lock the specification, and receive one consolidated quotation instead of chasing five separate Japanese suppliers who do not export.

Multiple Suppliers, One Coordinated Container
Goods arrive from each manufacturer under their own brand manifest, are checked against the packing list, then crated and staged in our warehouse until the container is full. Buyers ordering less than a full load from any single brand can consolidate across brands, with applicable fire, JIS and F★★★★ documentation confirmed per line item.

What Changes When You Specify Japanese Materials
Japanese products are built to Japanese standards and Japanese dimensions. Most of the friction in a first order comes from four differences that nobody warns overseas specifiers about. Here they are up front.
Japanese Wallcovering Is 92cm Wide, Not 53cm
Sangetsu, Lilycolor, Sincol and Toli manufacture vinyl wallcovering at 92cm width in 50m rolls. The European standard is 53cm in 10m rolls. One Japanese roll therefore covers roughly the area of eight European rolls.
This changes two things on your side: your installer estimates fewer, heavier rolls and needs a wider paste table, and your per-square-metre maths does not transfer from a European quotation. We supply the converted figures with every quotation so nothing is estimated twice.
| Market | Width | Roll length |
|---|---|---|
| Japan | 92 cm | 50 m |
| Europe | 53 cm | 10 m |
| North America | 68.6 cm | 8.2 m |
Reading F★★★★ Against E1 And CARB Phase 2
Japanese boards, flooring, doors and adhesives carry a formaldehyde emission grade written as F followed by one to four stars. F★★★★ is the highest grade and the only one permitted for unrestricted interior use under the Japanese Building Standards Act.
F★★★★ is Japan’s highest formaldehyde emission grade. It may support an overseas indoor-air submittal, but equivalence and acceptance must be confirmed for the exact product and destination code. Applicable grade documentation is supplied per line item.
| Grade | Emission | Interior use |
|---|---|---|
| F★★★★ | Lowest | Unrestricted |
| F★★★ | Low | Area limited |
| F★★ | Moderate | Area limited |
Japanese Fire Ratings And Their EN Equivalents
Japan classifies interior finishes under three levels defined by the Building Standards Act: Funen (non-combustible), Junfunen (quasi-non-combustible) and Nannen (flame-retardant), separated by how long the material must resist ignition — 20, 10 and 5 minutes respectively.
These are not identical to the European Euroclass system and cannot be mapped one to one. We provide the original Japanese test certificate where available so your fire consultant can assess the exact product directly rather than relying on a marketing equivalence.
| Japanese class | Resistance | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Funen | 20 min | Escape routes |
| Junfunen | 10 min | Corridors |
| Nannen | 5 min | General rooms |
The Japanese Module Behind Every Panel Size
Japanese interiors are dimensioned on the shakkanho module rather than on round metric numbers. The base unit is the ken, and panel goods are cut to it: standard sheet material arrives at 910 x 1820 mm, doors and flooring runs follow the same grid, and unit bathrooms are sold as fixed module sizes such as 1216 or 1620 rather than being built to a site dimension.
The practical consequence is that a Japanese unit bath or door set has to be designed into the opening, not fitted to an opening that already exists. Send us the rough opening dimensions with your enquiry and we will confirm which module lands cleanly before anything is quoted.
| Item | Japanese standard |
|---|---|
| Sheet / board | 910 x 1820 mm |
| Unit bath | 1216 / 1616 / 1620 |
| Tatami module | 1 ken = 1820 mm |
Questions Buyers Ask Before Sourcing From Japan
Clear answers on export availability, order volume, specifications, documentation and shipping.
Can you export Japanese building materials outside Japan?
Yes. EST coordinates selection, quotations and export across the eleven brands listed in the brand ledger. Export availability, original product identification and destination requirements are confirmed for the selected line items.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Orders can be placed as FCL or LCL. Buyers ordering below a full load from any single brand can consolidate multiple Japanese manufacturers into one container, which brings mixed orders up to container economics.
Why is Japanese wallpaper 92cm wide instead of 53cm?
Japanese vinyl wallcoverings from Sangetsu, Lilycolor, Sincol and Toli are manufactured at 92cm width and typically supplied in 50m rolls, against the 53cm European standard. This changes roll yield and installer estimating, so conversion figures are supplied with every quotation.
What certification is supplied with the goods?
Documentation is confirmed per line item and may include a commercial invoice, packing list, Japanese Certificate of Origin, applicable JIS or fire documentation, formaldehyde emission grade and MSDS where applicable.
Which ports do you ship from?
Export desks operate at Yokohama, Nagoya and Osaka. Available shipping terms and destination costs are confirmed per enquiry.

Stock items · typically 3–5 working days
Selected stocked wallpaper and gypsum board: procure and receive in Japan, subject to the model and quantity actually available.
Made to order · typically 2–4 weeks
Unit bathrooms, system kitchens and selected interior doors: factory scheduling starts after the specification and order are accepted. Custom lines may take longer.
Confirm the specification
Freeze model codes, quantities, finishes, bath modules and door openings. Confirm each supplier’s readiness date.
Use the production window
While MTO items are being made, procure available wallcovering and flooring, check model / colour / Lot Number on receipt, and prepare the agreed pallets.
Release one coordinated shipment
Check arrival quantities, packing, documents and the loading plan together. Confirm the ready-to-ship date before booking FCL or LCL.
Example: during a three-week kitchen production window, other confirmed stock items can be consolidated in parallel. Actual lead time, storage, holidays, courier and ocean transit are quoted separately.
Plan a consolidated quotation →Specify the accessories and the shipping documents together.
Include manufacturer-specified adhesives, primers, trims and installation accessories in the BOQ. For 92 cm wallcovering and decorative film, match adhesive to the product, substrate and local installation conditions; width alone does not determine the adhesive.
EST coordinates the product-specific English SDS (formerly MSDS), carrier review and any required dangerous-goods declaration before shipment. SDS availability and carrier acceptance must be confirmed for each adhesive; an SDS is not a blanket non-dangerous-goods certificate.
Where regulated solid-wood crates, pallets or dunnage are used, specify approved ISPM-15 treatment and an authorised IPPC mark. Processed-wood exemptions and destination rules are checked against the actual packing plan.
